hey. Im not sure if this has been asked before, but is it possible to have both a 5400RPM as well as a 7200RPM Hard disk in a laptop with two hard-disk trays? Im thinkin of getting a gateway fx and wanted to know if its possible to get any type of hard disk.

The speed of the hard disk is irrelevant. As long as they're both SATA, and both 2.5" form factor, you're good.

Now, if you were running a RAID setup, it might be different, but not for 2 discreet drives.

He means, yes - put whatever HD you want - they are mix and match unless you're going to configure them in RAID, then you'll want two identical drives.
