Hey...
In my search for the best HDD regarding speed, noise, power usage and heat I'm thinking of getting 5400 RPM HDD instead of a 7200 RPM HDD.
This has all the advantages except for speed but I'm wondering of there's any 5400 RPM HDD's which performs like 7200 RPM HDD's ?
Also, how big of a difference is there between 5400 RPM and 7200 RPM regarding boot time (Vista) and starting up applications (IE7, Word, Power Point etc.) ?

The best performing 5400rpm drive is the WD3200BEVT, as you can see in this review: http://www.storagereview.com/Hitachi250WD320.sr?page=0,2
Boot times and launchtimes can be found here: http://www.laptopmag.com/review/storage/intel-x25-m.aspx?page=5
And here: http://techreport.com/articles.x/15079/6
As you can see in these reviews, booting Vista is not very HDD dependend.
