    So...

My laptop has the 570M QuatroFx, also known as the 8600GT, and it has been acting up.

Starting about four days ago I have noticed that little graphical glitches have been poping up from time to time. Sections of the screen missing for just a second or two at a time, at first it was just on start-up/resume; now, I've seen it twice during normal use where something very odd will happen for a second at a time such as when switching tabs in a web broswer.

So other 8600GT sufferers, is my videocard on its deathbed, or am I overreacting? Also, is it going to die in a a week, or in two years? laptop itself is only about 8 months old.

 - Arg. I hate becoming a statistic.

The problem you have sounds more like just a defective graphics card which is artifacting.
Usually when a graphics card dies. Its dead, as in it doesn't even work anymore.

I think you should set up RMA for your laptop or call the manufacturer because a new gpu/motherboard is needed
