I don't see how much rpm that hard drive gives, try finding one that is 7200 rpm so you will have better performance.

This forum might intrest you, its about upgrading your graphics card.

This link s about soem guy who shows how to swap the gpy, eventhough its not an ati replacement it should give you a basic idea.

Here is a site where you can buy the gpu that fits your laptop.

Upgrading the cpu should be a lot harder since you will need to remove the heatsink and other attached stuff.

I don't know how you can find the recovery partition for your hard drive but you can download all the software you need from the acer website and store in on your usb (I used 3 cd roms).

If you manage to replace your hard drive could you post a guide because I'm also going to upgrade my laptop in every possible way (thats why I kept al those links in a seperate word file ^^).

Edit: I suggest you remove your laptops serial number from this forum.

When I upgraded my old 6920g I just kept the recovery partition on the drive.
A couple of months ago I sold it and used the original disk for recovery.

It's easy enough to do a fresh install with the key on the laptop.
The drivers in the recovery partition will be outdated anyway.

My advice would be to keep on to the recovery partition to make it 'factory fresh' in case of future sale.

You can use Acronis Migrate Easy to clone your old Hard drive including the Factory Restore partition. Under manual option select "as is" option while you do the cloning.

You can buy a special hard drive case (hard drive not encluded!) with a sata conection for like 10 pounds on amazon which functions as a normal external harddrvie via usb connection. So, you buy that case, buy a new internal hard drive, put it in the case, then conect the case via usb to your laptop and start the data transfer. Then, you remove the new drive from the case, and put it in your laptop, while you can put your old drive in this case and use it as a back up.

    Hey

im also upgrading my hard drive. I'm not interested in cloning, although i want the new hard drive to be partitioned. How do i partition the hard drive? is it before installing the os or after installing the os?

You can partition while installing the OS or latter on with Disk Management in Vista.
