Dont want to replace motherboard....still too expensive for me.

My Acer 5920g runs using the AC adapter.....but it wont run from the battery....from within windows it says "battery not detected". The battery charging icon blinks with an amber-orange color...it just constantly blinks...already tried replacing the battery.....the new battery also indicated the status "battery not detected" from within windows.....Mactech from FixYa posted some pics

here indicating the location of the fuse relating to the battery within the 5920g motherboard...i tried to short the fuse but the problem still remains...it still shows battery not detected..... could it be that I didnt properly short the fuse? I am not too experienced with soldering using leadfree iron. Or is there something else i need to do?

I can only view existing posts from FixYa....i cant ask questions yet. Thats why i posted here....in case there are component level circuit board repair experts here too....

    RigelKent,

this is a long shot, but my Sony VAIO does weird things too (software-wise) with its battery. I solved it, but it involved installing the Sony drivers and rebooting a few times.

Does your battery charge when you install it and the computer is off?

If it does, it may have the same weird software that the Sony drove me crazy with.

To test this properly; turn computer off. Unplug power. Insert battery, plug power in and wait for light to indicate 'charging'. I would wait up to 5 minutes with the computer 'off' to see if it finally starts charging.

It does not also charge when it is "off"

Battery charge led just blinks...repeatedly, already bought new battery...still the same...
