Which is more noticeable, the speed or the size, how much price difference could close the deal!!!

Just the speed mate, the 7200rpm is ALOT faster than the 5200

Yeap the speed, in terms of boot-up time, open applications and files. But bigger size on the hard disk has its little advantages too. I can't remember the exact figure, but having certain amount of free space within that drive will allow applications to run more smoothly.

Basically your hard drive starts at the edge of the disc which is rotating fastest, then as it fills the data is stored closer and closer to the middle which is spinning slower. Also data gets spread out accross the disc (fragmentation) which the head has to seek to.
This is why hard drives have a performance curve accross the entire drive and they slow down over time.
This is also why a desktop drive is faster than a laptop drive if both are built using the same tech, the desktop drive's platter is wider (3.5" vs 2.5") which means at 7200rpm the outside edge is moving faster.
