Im really considering getting a Dell 700m, however, it does come with a 1.86ghz Pentium M. Me and my friend love biking, and we will both have laptop. Combine that and what do you get? Right, I've never really looked deep enough into mobile stuff. And I'd like to know if that cpu, really is power efficient, or there another one that would make my battery last longer. Speed? I don't really need it, i need mobility.

    thanks,
    Vincent

While the 700m was a great mobile PC back when it was selling, that computer is now three generations old. You'll find them on sale somewhere still, but they'll all be heavily used, most out of warranty, and many probably just waiting to die.

The hardware in current machines is much faster and will probably yield more performance and battery life for the dollar than the 700m would. Something like an M1330 or just barely refurb M1210, or maybe one of the Dell Latitude D630, D420/D430, or similar. The HP nx6400 might be a good 14" choice as well, depending on your needs. Of course, I'm just throwing out a few models that might catch your interest. Some of the HP Compaq notebooks can hit 10-16 hours of battery life if you get a ultra capacity 2nd battery (some laptops can use two batteries at the same time even!).

I'd say fill out our FAQs so we get a little better idea of what you are looking for, and we can easily help you nail down the best PC for your budget.
