    I'm configuring a Dell Inspiron 630m and I've decided I want an 80GB 5400RPM HDD or an 80GB 7200RPM HDD (£50 - around $90 US - more expensive).

I'll be using the laptop for downloading, movies and DVDs, MP3s, FireFox and MSN Messenger, mainly, as well as a bit of casual Photoshopping perhaps.

Will I notice a big performance difference between the two HDDs or will it be negligible, considering what I will use this notebook for?

Also, is it true that when you get into the last couple of GBs in HDDs you get a big performance drag?

    Thanks :).

A fatster harddrive will improve your performance noticeabbly. Everything will seem more peppy. I would recomend it.

As you get to the outer portion of the drive, the performance will decrease. But I would not call it a "big performance drag".
