    is there a way i can tell if my laptop actually has a 7200rpm drive init? i paidfor it,but i want to make sure they upgraded it ...

    i ran a benchmarking program the other day and it said i had a slow hard drive...just curious.

    if you go to device manager and select disk drives, you should be able to see the drive make and model.(In my case it shows Toshiba MK4026GAX). Once you know the drive model number, then you know what drive it is, what speed etc, etc.(or search google!)

    BTW. If you run HDTune, it also tells you the make, model.

    hucsman, is it quite easy to swap out a HD? such as upgrade or something in future?

    It's pretty easy on most notebooks. Heck, to get the keyboard off my old Dell i4150 I had to take the drive out!

    I recommend running Everest Home Edition, it will tell you what your hard drive RPM is. ;)

    Yep, like Slappy said, it's a piece of cake. It is one of the few things that manufacturers will let you do without voiding your warranty. There may be some systems (very, very few) that are hard, but most (>95%) are very easy.
