Can anyone tell me why this hard drive is so hard find? Newegg has it for two or three days out of every month, and no where else seems to acknowledge its existence. Each time I order one from Newegg, they cancel the order, telling me it has been backordered! Any thoughts?

If you have a Fry's in your area, you might want to try there if finding one online is difficult.

I had a very tough time finding this when I was looking for it too - I ended up finding it at Buy.com:
http://www.buy.com/prod/100GB_7200R...ms_seek_Travelstar_E/q/loc/101/202444703.html
Free shipping on that.
I've ordered a lot of computer-related items from Buy.com and have always had a good experience. -
www.ewiz.com has it as well

Thanks for all the great leads, guys!

pcconnection.com has it for about 30 dollars cheaper but its temp out of stock so if you can wait you can get it there for considerably cheaper

Thanks q, that is cheaper than Newegg, but so far buy.com has the low ball at $150 with free shipping. FYI, though, the link Chaz gave was to the Enterprise edition, which is designed for servers and so lacks all power savings features. Here is a link to the standard one:
http://www.buy.com/prod/100GB_IDE_SATA_6_UDMA_100_7200_RPM/q/loc/101/202008212.html
ewiz seems to be the only place that has them in stock, but for $38 I can wait. -
oo nice price maybe ill get one :l

Interesting that Newegg keeps having it in and out of stock. I bought mine from Newegg for $159 about 2 months ago. And I just checked, its yet again out of stock. Guess its a highly sought after drive...
