which display is better for laptop everyday use? do i really need 1080p?

Hard to say, really, it's largely personal preference. I prefer having more pixels (higher resolution) so that I have more usable room, but some people prefer lower resolutions because A) it's cheaper, and B) everything is larger, given the same size screen, so text and everything is easier to see without fiddling with DPI settings.

What size is the screen?

I would view 1080p screens before you jump the gun. Some people can deal with small text, while others cannot, it's your personal preference. Honestly I couldn't live with 1368x768 on 14.1" and larger.

Anything over 14" deserves something higher than 720p... most offer a 1600x900.

The 1080p is definitely worth it. Especially on the XPS 15 because that 1080p display is B+RGLED backlit, which makes colors stand out a lot more.
In fact, it's a more important upgrade than the processor because it affects everything you do.
It does make stuff smaller, but that's the great thing about it, and most people have no problem adjusting to it.
Here's part of another post I made regarding the XPS 15 and 1080p:

Well, in that case, 1080p is more than worth it. You'd seriously regret 720p on a bigger notebook display.

@ edit1754, ahaha yea. I just wanted to make sure i don't waste money on 1080p if i use it for everyday uses + ur the only one who replied on my other thread so it kinda made it hard. But thanks again man =)

Font size is no reason to go with a lower resolution screen.
Just increase the DPI or use one of the many various zoom tools if you have trouble viewing text. -

Yeah if getting the XPS 15, get the 1080p B+RGLED as it is one of the best consumer screens out there.
