I bought a 80GB 7200rpm Hitachi HDD today with the intention of putting it into my notebook to replace the current 60GB 5400rpm drive.
However, I DO NOT want to have to do a reinstall of windows, so using Norton Ghost, I copied the contents of my HDD over from the 60GB drive to the 80GB. I then took the old one out of my notebook, and placed the new one in.
It now doesn't work properly, going though the windows loading screen, but stopping afterwards. What have I done wrong, and what should I actually do to fix this problem?

You need to properly format and partition the new hard drive. It cannot just work by dumping contents of Windows over - there are thousands of complications - the first popping into my head is the registry book which needs to be installed.

Whats wrong with a clean OS install? It gives you the chance to update drivers and have your system runnng at its peak. I know its a hassle but we all do it.

I formated the hdd into one 80Gb partition first, then cloned the hdd over.
So theres no way I can make this work?
Nothing wrong with a clean install, and I actually plan to do one in a few months time when I actually have some time on my hands; right now just isn't really convenient.
