Hi I dont play that much games but I do own a couple. I decided to play a bit FC2 with the 179.13 I had for a couple month already.
It was pretty playable a couple month ago at 20-30 with decent settings. But today when I turned on it was at 10-15 fps barely playable. Didn't know what's wrong so I decided to update my graphics driver.
Tried 180.44 dox first. Then started up fine, went to FC2 game wouldn't finish loading
Then I went to a 179.14. During that I tried the powermizer thing. Turned that on. After that my fan started spinning. Rivatuner says 95c !! I checked no OC and all that. Before all this I had a 178 something and and I overclocked my g-card at 15% higher than stock since I bought it in june.
I just downloaded 180.70 dox, hopefully that fixes it. I really dont want to do a OS reinstall. Argh, 95C is pretty hot. It's heating up my tiny room![]()

Still trying to reinstall on my m1530. Ctrl alt delete wont even respond. It's getting so hot it's not even funny anymore, computer is being really unresponsive.
Sidenote: I once pressed the media direct button in windows and the screen for it popped up. After that in My computers a new media direct drive was booted up and is never gone anymore. I have seen a special partition of it when I was installing ubuntu, but now somehow that partition is being mounted along with my vista? I dont know if this was a direct cause but since it has appeared in My Computers, my machine has been acting really slow. Is there a way for me to dismount that drive? I dont mind keeping media direct or not since I never use it. It just doesnt boot up fast enough and I have an ipod already =\

Is your fan even working? If your computer is getting hotter than it usually does, then I recommend calling Dell and sending it in.

i have been using this computer for 4 month and I decided to update my drivers today.
Since my first install the fan is going crazy. Fan is turning nonstop. 80C idle, and when I play a movie it's 85C.
Why did you move my post? I will sure get a prompt answer from this board lol. -

It's more hardware-related than gaming.
Well, go back to your old drivers and see if you still have the problem. -
call dell, it's definitely a hardware prob

lol truth is i have been using the machine for 5 month without a problem. I upgraded the driver once to 179.13.
When I want the newer once, the computer ed up. Now it's completely broken because the HDD is messed up.
I was just using it one day, and now I cant even turn it up to get my data out. How sad -
hey mods i appreciate your efforts at moving this thread into more and more obscure boards.
i am glad to be stuck with a broken laptop after 2 graphics card driver upgrades
there goes my 250GB of data -
Well as other posts suggest, I'd call dell.
A temperature like that is very unsafe and can lead to extreme burns. -
I think you should downgrade because when I still had a 8600m GT when I install the 180 series my card became stuck in high performance mode...
8600 Idle temp 95C.
