    Hi, It's my first post.
I am a student using mainly Autocad and 3ds max, My notebook is
msi gx700 with geforce 8600m gt I'm sure it's using MXM II slot.
I'm interested in upgrade to quadro fx 770m (MXM II too)

Does any one of you could tell me is it possible? Maybe someone have experience with such upgrade ?

Most likely you won't be able to upgrade your notebook.

Most likely you will be able to upgrade since MSI makes it easy.

The FX 770 is a good choice :)

Have you taken the bottom cover off of your notebook?

You could probably find a disassembly guide for it on the net.

the quadro fx 770 is better than the 8600 gs, i think its equivalent to the 9700 gt or 9600 gt.

Yep, it's pretty much the best MXM II nvidia GPU you can get.

The FX 770M is based on the 9600M GT. I didn't think it came in a generic MXM II form that fit MSI's notebook but moral would probably know better as he actually has a MSI :p

Cheaper prices than I remember MXM upgrades being. Perhaps there are more cards available since its a popular or at least common upgrade. You also have the benefit of getting away from one of Nvidia's cursed cards.

    I bought card from auction for 330PLN ~ 120$
after modifying cooler and upgrading BIOS (big thanks for rado32 and his guide http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=345255 ) i managed to rise my 3d mark from 3.800 to 5.500 I think it's a nice improvement for that money. I didn't check performance in 3ds max yet

    My last problem are temperatures.

I have already undervolted the cpu (T7500) to 1.075v (before at 1.25 it was reaching 98-99C when i used orthos)
With Riva Tuner i have problem because it doesn't allow me to change voltages and clock values.
    I'm using drivers from lv2g version 197.16
I think that the only way to change voltages and clock values is by modifying bios with nibitor. Problem is that I don't know how low voltage values i can use.

In a few days i will buy better thermal paste. The old one may be a problem too.

Since the GPU startup clocks are 2d or thrtl, the notebook will boot fine even if you drop the "extra" voltage a lot.

My advice is to take the "extra" voltage to the minimum value, boot up and stability test it. If it's stable, lower the rest of the voltages.

If it's not stable (it should be stable though), then increase the voltage a bit and test again.

are u 100% sure that the riva tuner tweak didn't work? BIOS flashing is dangerous and should be used as last resort! What problems are u having with changing voltages?

I resolved problem with high temperatures. Old stock silicone thermal paste was responsible for that. After applying arctic silver temperatures fall to

    CPU:
    37 Idle
    72 stress (98 before)
    GPU:
    44-idle
    85-stress (after 15min furmark) 96< before

According to this I'm wondering If i could overclock it a bit simultaneously with undervolting. I know that higher clocks needs higher voltages to run stable but there is always some reserve which can be used. Since Riva Tuner doesn't allow me to change clocks from windows it has to be done by modifying Bios. And there goes my questions:
Will my card bot up with too over clocked 3d clocks or too low voltages ? In which mode Dos is running ? (my bios uses only 2 modes 2d and Thrtl)
(Nibitor allows me to use 4 votages: 0.89, 1.00, 1.05, 1,16) Is there any way to have more options ?
