    8GB memory Q's

    I guess the question is, if I up grade to 8GB and remove my pagefile will that help increase my battery life? Are there other means to increase battery life? I have the Alienware m17x. No battery upgrades available.

    Unless you are heavilly using the page file now the answer here is a big NO! In act the memory chips usually use ever so slightly more power to keep that extra ram fresh but you also store more HDD cache to ram so if you do alot o hdd access the ram will over all save you some battery.

    So in the end YMMV with extended battery and larger ram but rarely will pulling the page file save you battery life with either 4GB or 8GB.....

    Interesting, thanks for the input. Since it's not going to improve performance, there's really no reason then.
