Okay my 9300 came with the default HD. I want to upgrade cause I am already running out of room. I have a 120g external but its a real pain when I travel. What are my limits on the 9300 as far as size and speed, etc. I was thinking of the Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 7200RPM 2.5" Hard Drive

But can I go bigger, do they make bigger. I know its more money but if I could go with a 120 maybe even a 250. I have a lot of data for work and music and games so I use ALOT of space. Alos those of you that have switched is there a big increase in performance going to the 7200spd drive..

    Thanks

If you want a 7200RPM drive 100GB is the limit. If you can live with 5400RPM then you can get 120GB. Perhaps a laptop drive in a case would be a good idea. A decent case will run about $20 plus the drive. Or you could get the 7200 and put the old drive in the case for mor storage. That would at least be better than lugging around a desktop drive. Good Luck.

Thanks the info. I will prorbly get the 100gb and use my external to store stuff I don't need everyday on. I am thinking of getting an exteranl case for the drive that is in the laptop now and using that as well.

Yes, I'd go with 7200RPM if you can. Faster and doesn't consume any more power than a 5400RPM.

That's what I did when I upgraded my hard drive on one of my other notebooks - I took the hard drive that was in there and stuck it in an external 2.5" enclosure - it's USB powered and very easy to travel with!
