About a month ago - I began having issues with my Inspiron 9300 where it would not run at all with only battery power. As soon as I would unplug it from the outlet - it would completely shut down. (This is the original battery from when I bought my 9300 new 2 Xmas's ago - and not involved in the recall.)

Since I do have my laptop constantly plugged in (which probably isn't the best thing to do) I was advised that the problem was with the battery and I needed to get a new one - which I did.

Initially - once the new battery was charged up - everything was fine. BUT.....I did notice that my battery charging "lite" is now always flashing - even after the battery was fully charged.

As of a few days ago - my original problem is back. When the laptop is unplugged - it won't work on battery charge....and, yes, I have checked - it is completely charged. At least according to my laptop...

Any help with this would be HIGHLY appreciated. I'm kinda stuck not being able to move around.....I don't need another desktop!

Take the battery out and have a look if you can see anything there. Maybe the connection between mainboard and battery is broken.
Use a tool such as NHC to check the battery capacity and wear level.

it maybe due to the wear on the battery
the more you use these lithium ion batteries the more the wear and the lesser capacity and the ability to hold charge decreases so this seems tyical in this manner
you could check wear level by using various third party programs or you could also download HP battery meter from the hp support and drivers site though its hp im sure itll reckon the the wear level of your battery on your dell inspiron

The problem is probably the fact that you have used your battery and recharged it so many times, that it does not hold its charge anymore.

Thank you all for your help....I'll give it a try!

(Even my new battery isn't working properly - and I have only had that one for about 2-3 weeks. Worked OK when I first installed it - I was able to use my laptop using the battery....but now it says 95% charged but won't keep my computer running. Could it be a motherboard problem?)

Yeah if it is only a few weeks old then wear should not be the issue. The laptop shuts down right away right? just turns off or does it say low battery and shuts down normal? I think something is wrong with the connection. Is the battery lose or anything?

I had a similar problem and re-flashing my bios corrected the problem, it might work for you.
