i've seen many relevant threads on this site but still not sure, so i had to create another...

    i have a toshiba a135-s4527 upgraded to 2GB RAM. it is an intel 943GML chipset with a T2080 dual-core.

i'm wondering what is the most powerful processor i can drop in, and should i see a significant performance increase?

my guess is: the t7200 core 2 duo and yes.

    thanks for your suggestions!
    i'll be using 32bit windows 7.

Depends. What do you generally use your computer for?

I also have this laptop, just picked it up cheap from a friend, and am also looking to upgrade the cpu if possible. I wondering if you put that t7200 in your toshiba and did it work? Was it detected properly by the bios? Thanks!

You can put up to a T7600 in your laptop. If its worth it, is another matter.

Make sure the new processor is supported by the BIOS.
I put a Pentium M 755 instead of the installed M 725 in an Toshiba Satellite SA50 and it worked only with the lowest speed/multiplier.
