Is there a difference between the (Intel® 945GM Chipset with Integrated Graphics) and the (Intel® 945GM Chipset + Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950) i want to run vista on a new laptop. On the notebook one lists GMA950 under video but the other one just shows Intel® 945GM Chipset with Integrated Graphics under the chip set is the integrated graphics it refers to the GMA950?

They are the same thing. The Integrated Graphics for the 945GM chipset is the GMA950.

perfect, thanks

No...the 945GM is the chipset that has the GMA 950.
Also, I would try to avoid Intel integrated if you plan on Vista. Even though it will *supposedly* run Aero, I'm sure the performance would not be very good. -
The GMA was never meant to do appreciable 3D work...it is fine in 2D, but after seeing how poorly my GMA 900 did on games that were three years old I had to update.
Last I checked, the GMA950s ability for Aero was in question...that's what I'm concerned about. I'm not trolling, and you need to understand that I'm just stating my concerns with integrated graphics. -
im not sure but i thought i read that the 950 was considerably better then the 900 maybe thats why aero is possiable
-
that probably would be due to shader language 2.0 support...the 900 was only shader language 1.x (I think 1.4).
but hardware T&L is still missing...which does hurt gaming performance. the X3000 might fix that though. -
I'm using Vista Aero on my laptop:
Dual Core 1.6
1GIG DDR2
945GM
It runs superb! In fact it beats out my desktop:
AMD 3800+
1GIG DDR2
Nvidia 7600 256MB
Have no fear it runs fantastic, atleast for me! -
GMA running with full Aero (Ultimate OEM) here too. Runs very smooth on my X60. No lagging what so ever. I have 2GB or RAM though.

I was in Best Buy the other day and just about all the laptops they had on display had the GMA950 graphics chip. All ran Vista Aero perfectly, smooth as my X700.
