Hello I just bought a M.2 960 Pros 2TB SSD from Amazon new, but when I've received it I noticed the box was a refurbished ie someone already opened it. And when I opened it the SSD just fall off of the box it not even in his emplacement.

What should I do? Send it back? (It will be costly for me to send it back to USA, I live in Dubai)
How do I know if someone already used it ?

    Thanks

It is not necessarily a refurb. It could have been a customer returned it as it does not work for them but then should have been advertised as an open box. It also could have been opened and inspected etc.. If you want to return it unfortunately you may have to pay.

Check SMART e.g. with CrystalDiskInfo. If the drive is OK but has power on hours more than few, try to get a partial refund out of the seller. If the drive has SMART errors, or won't perform well, you'll have to send it back regardless.

Myself? I do not buy refurbished or open box, but Starlight5 has the right idea: see what the SMART status on the drive is and go from there.

If you bought it via CC; note to the seller that you will ask for the charges to be reversed if it is not to your satisfaction - and; you won't pay for shipping it back either.

    Good luck.

    This.

Also take into account that it will have power on hours at best, due to testing procedures, if not used by another user already, so it is normal.

Okay thanks guys! I can't test it right now I will have to wait end of the week or next so I will know if it's a refurbished, anyway I bought it on Amazon and they offer me to ship me a replacement or keep it a get a 10% discount on the 2TB so that's very cool + shipping free of charge. Amazon Customer Service is not fake at all :)
