 Whats the difference between these two?
Like the 8600M GS had half the stream processors as compared to the 8600M GT,is it the same case with the GeForce 9M series as well?

no, both 9600m gs and 9600m gt have 32 cores, only difference is clock speeds.
the gt has 70mhz more on the core and 125mhz on the shaders. so get the gt unless your choices are the gt with ddr2 and the gs with gddr3.

Yes, looks like only difference is in the clock speed. Specifications : 9600M GS , 9600M GT.
As tianxia, said, look out for the memory type, DDR3 can have a significance advantage over DDR2. I suppose a 9600M GS DDR3 (if they exists) will be faster than a 9600M GT DDR2.
