    Hi,

I have a HP 8510w notebook and this is my current configuration

    Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 @ 2.50 GHz, 6 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB
    4GB DDR2 RAM 667 MHz
    ATI Mobility FireGL v5600 256MB GDDR3
    320GB SATA 16MB 7200rpm WESTERN DIGITAL
    Windows Vista Business 32-bit

Everything is running fine but I want to upgrade my graphic card for gaming purpose. I have bought a Geforce 9600m GT 512MB (MXM II) from eBay and it fits perfectly in my laptop but when I start up my system I just get a black screen so I think it's something with the BIOS. Somebody who knows what I could do?

hp uses some kind of a whitelist for the hardware. you can“t upgrade anything unless it is permitted ( meaning hp sells those spares or upgrades themselves) by hp.

i remember some hp tattoo software floating around that could be used to add a certain device. google for hp whitelist and / or the tattoo software for hp.

    good luck mate

I have updatet my BIOS but perhaps I'll have to try the HP whitelist or whatever on google.

    Thanks!

Hmm, I'm having problems to retrieve the ROM image of my BIOS. I need that ROM image to edit it with Phoenix BIOS Editor... Somebody who can help me? The Bios-updaters on HP site don't contain a ROM-file...
