Hi I have recently purchased a HP 350 Notebook PC, I'm initially very pleased with the features that the laptop has, but could to to get it to run a little faster form my liking.

The laptop ships with 512MB ram and windows vista, instantly I see that upgrading ram to at least 1GB would make the laptop run faster as Windows Vista is rather ram hungry.

I'm not up to par when it comes to hardware and upgrading and would appreciate if you could help point me in the right direction.

Another thought that I had apart from upgrading the ram was perhaps ugrading the processor, however I really don't know whether this is possible.
At present the notebook has an Intel Celeron M CPU 440 @ 1.86GHz any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advanced
    Lee.

Get at least 2GB RAM if you plan to run windows Vista. RAM is becomingly cheap and cheap nowadays.
I think your notebook can be upgraded to the C2D T7200/T7300.

I would get 2GB RAM as cost is low, also HDD if it has an 80GB it will be slow. Your CPU is socket M because they also came with Core Duo's almost certain you can upgrade to one maybe even Core 2 Duo. Might require BIOS flash.

    Edit:T7300 is socket P, T7200/T7400 are M

I've just realised that I've miss typed the laptop name. it's actually a HP 530 Notebook PC not 550

Thanks for all the advice guys, despite the error in the make of laptop, it seems that this laptop is quite upgradable - which makes me very happy!

My project for the next few months is upgrading )

This is an old thread and is unlikely to be answered by the OP. But anyway, sounds like you will need some PC5300 667mhz DDR2 200pin ram. You can get hold of some in bestbuy or newegg, and computer stores alike. The details I listed above are crucial.
