    Hi,

I really hate to waste people's time, but I have tried the search function to answer my questions, and my efforts were futile.

I am just wondering how to maximize the performance of dual core processors. I have read in many posts where people discuss how a dual core processor is superior when the performance is maximized. Do they come not maximized or something?

More specifically, here is what a forum member said "if you have your machine configured correctly to use both cores, it's a field day in terms of outperforming any other mobile processor".

Sorry for my apparent retardation. I am new to this and I would really appreciate some help.

Not sure... they may be refering to overlocking & upping the FSB.

To my knowledge the only way to maximize a Core Duo processor, in fact any processor, is to overclock it. Here's a good site to learn more about overclocking.

I cannot think of any way to "configure a machine correctly to use both cores".

    Thanks Chaz!

That is exactly what I was looking for.

If I order a dual core Dell 6400, do I have to do that, or is it already done?

I'm pretty sure it's any notebook as my Asus already came configured like it says to do.
