Is there a program that will shut off cores when they really aren't necessary? For instance, if you have six-core processor and in the morning you wake up and probably will only check your e-mail and surf the web for some stuff, is it possible to turn of the other cores when not in use, to save power and possibly extend battery life?

Windows already does that with the core parking.
