I'm about to purchase a notebook. I have seen the CD2 T7200 and the CD2 T5500/5600. I know the the T7200 are 4MB Cache and the others are 2MB. The price seems to be a large gap. What will the differences be between the 4MB and the 2MB caches. Will there be a noticable difference? I'll be using the notebook for school work and maybe some light gaming. Thanks

Tasks like encoding and video editing will benefit from the extra clockspeed and cache to some extent. If you are just doing some schoolwork and a bit of gaming, then you won't need the extra power of the T7200. Gaming is more dependant on the graphics, and even a T5500 can game well, when coupled to a good graphics card.

gaming isn't even multi-threaded, so a single core amd or intel might do as well or even better then two cores.

Sorry. Some games are multithreaded and more are on the way. Quake 4 is multithreaded and makes use of two cores.
The sweet spot for future games is the T5600.

As Zero said, the T7200 is way more than you need. Any modern processor will suffice for your needs in reality; I would go with the Core 2 Duo T5500. Great price/performance.
