Ok, I was sort of pondering about overclocking, and I had what I believe to be a pretty cool idea. The graphics card is under the keyboard, right? So, conceivably, if you removed the keyboard (and used an external one, obviously), the laptop would run much cooler. Well, this would allow you to overclock much higher than normal, correct? I don't have a laptop (yet!) so there's no way of me checking how dramatic of an impact this idea has when applied in practical usage, but I thought I'd just throw this idea out there, in case anyone felt generous enough to give it a go and post the results. I hope this idea does something :D

Thanks in advance for... I don't know... reading my post?

What good would a laptop without a keyboard do? Why not just get a desktop?

Most notebooks have a designed airflow parameter. If you remove things and make the airflow go to other parts or escape early you can wind up messing up the heat envelope. I would not recommend this. Now sitting in a dry super cool freezer? That might work lol but it would not be comfortable.

Precisely. At this rate why not just take the whole laptop out of the case... you'll have excellent cooling and defeat the purpose of a laptop at the same time!

lol as soon as I posted this I had an idea that it was complete lunacy. Oh well. Sorry for wasting you guys' time  !

As for getting a desktop, you would only do this when you wanted EXTREME gaming. Otherwise, you would put the keyboard back in. That was if it actually had an effect.

Actually i sometimes remove the RAM cover by removing all screws and mounting the laptop on a custom made stand... This way temperature goes down by 6 degrees....
But removing keyboard can be a hassle..but good u atleast thought in a different way

Wow, 6 degrees. That's a pretty significant difference. So whenever you want to do something that really taxes the gpu, you'd just mosey on over to your stand, right?

    Here's an idea:

Liquid Nitrogen. The tank is only like 40 lbs, making it completely portable - unless you're a wimp - and with a normal laptop, it weighs only slightly more than those 20 inchers out there (cough) HP HDX (cough).

I got an idea why don't you get a desktop and duck tape the Tower to the Laptop and then the keyboard and get 3 car batteries. Right there extreme gaming laptop.
