    A cable that converts ATA/100 to USB?

    Is there any such thing?

    I had an HP NC4000, but now its broken i want to get the information off the hard drive and transfer it to my new laptop or desktop.

    Any way or doing that?

    Theres not a cable, per se. But there are adapters. Something like this. Or you can just buy an external ATA enclosure like this. I recommend the later.

    It *should*, but external 2.5" hard drives are very finicky when it comes to power seeing as how they run off the USB bus. It's hard to say for sure. I would still suggest the external enclosure.

    hi! Well if your hard drive has 30gbs go for the cheapest adapter, because it is a 4200 rpm drive and you are not going to have power related problems. But if not, you have just to purchase and external source of power to make it spin because you hace a 5400rpm drive. There is also a 2,5-3,5 ide adapters, wich are cheaper, if you have a desktop computer. Hope this helps.
