I newly got Dell Inspiron E 1505 with Core Duo 1.66 T2300 and 1G RAM.
    1. When I got to My Computer-> Properties, I see the processor as "Genuine Intel Processor T2300, 1.66 GHz but do not see Core Duo". Is this valid? Or should I expect Core Duo there?
    2. I ordered for 1G RAM Shared Dual Channel 2 DIMM. What I got was 512 MB modules in two slots. But, my expectation was to get 1G in one slot with another slot free, so that I could extend it in future. My questions here is: is this correct if I got 512*2 rather than one 1G? And, which is better for performance? And, which one is more expensive, in general?
    3. How to check the maximum write speed of my DVD drive?

The RAM is correct, and I believe that the T2300 is Intel's rating system for their Core Duos, but I am not positive. The 512 x 2 will perform better than 1GB x 1 since there are two of the same RAM sticks (Dual Channel), but they will use more power than a single 1GB stick of RAM.

The T2300 is a Core Duo processor. My T2500 doesn't show Core Duo in the My Computer properties either.

If you ordered "1G RAM Shared Dual Channel 2 DIMM," then yes, you should have received what you did - that's the 2 DIMM part of it.

I believe the DVD burner for the e1505 is marketed as being an 8x DVD burner. Burn a DVD or two and see what you get.

    Hope that helps =)
