So I ordered a Dell XPS M1730, July 16th, Expected mid-August. I have a personality that is like, I want that and poor researching in one day before buying. After some looking online, etc., I noticed that the Nvidia 8700m GT SLI is quite dated. After looking through the stickies (And seeing a video online upgrading the M1730 to 8800), should I and can I replace the 8700 with GeForce GTX 280? I am looking to play new games, such as TW:Empires but and maybe Crysis if I ever want to play it.

Edit: Oh and for some reason, I'm getting nervous because Dell, atleast for today on their website, is no longer selling the M1730, so my mind is thinking that I bought some unpopular, old, defective desktop replacement.

The 9800m GT SLI is the highest that the M1730 can take; the graphics card uses a propriety connection. The only options are the 8700m GT, 8800m GT, and 9800m GT that I am aware of.

And Dell has been phasing out the XPS line for a while. Looks like you caught one of the last ones.

Could you put a NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX SLI in the notebook?

Found a price on it, $75.00, is that a correct price for it? It's sale name is this: XFX PVT80FSHF9 GeForce 8800GTX 575MHz 768MB PCI Express x16 SLI Ready Video Card ( Dual DVI / S-Video )

The videocard that you found seems like its not a mobility version so it would be for a desktop.

A 8800M GTX would cost alot more, at least $200 each and you would probably have to either buy it from Dell or get someone with a Dell 8800M GTX to sell you one since the card is most likely proprietary.

Long story short, it is more trouble than its worth so I would try to get the order changed rather than trying to switch videocards yourself.
