Hi, I saw a few new notebooks with the new Santa Rosa processors but I don't think any of them actually mention anything about the Robson flash memory. From what I know the Robson flash memory is use to hugely reduce the boot up time... Anyone knows if Santa Rosa do include the Robson flash memory or not? Cheers.

It does include it but it is optional. Many consumer laptops will not have it because of the extra cost. It is called Turbo Memory now. The Thinkpad T61 has it. I expect mostly business laptops and high end consumer laptops to have it.

Thanks wave. So that's why some new models out there don't have Robson...
Do you know how much extra will it cost to include Robson? And will it be worth the price? Cheers!

At Lenovo.com 1GB of Turbo Memory (Robson) for the T61 costs $37,50 extra. It is a promotion of some kind and the normal price is listed as $50.

Alright. Cool
I think I'll get it when I buy a new laptop end of year...

It will find its way into almost all notebooks except the lower-end Santa Rosa models, I presume. It's a pretty good feature to have in Vista.

I can't wait for my next laptop to come with Robson...
Saw this at wiki:
"Intel Turbo Memory, (code-named Robson flash memory, also known as a Robson cache,) is a technology the CPU producer Intel introduced on October 17, 2005 at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in Taiwan when it gave a demonstration using a laptop that booted up almost immediately"
A question on the Santa Rosa processors out now
