    Hello!

Is the A8-3510MX any different than the 3530MX other than frequency speed?

Are they the same thing? (3510 is just 3530 underclocked?)

Thanks in advance for any help!

So lets just say there are two of the same exact notebooks with each processor, in theory they should be able to clock to exactly the same overclock?

No two CPU's overclock the same. The A8-3510MX actually has a lower max voltage than the 3530MX, so theoretically you should be able to achieve higher overclocks with the 3530MX, but the heat generated at those higher speeds/voltages usually exceed what the existing laptops out there can dissipate. 2.4GHz is definitely achievable and about the max sustained speed users are typically seeing keeping temperatures within reason with most A8 CPU's.

You mean the max you can set it to is higher? That shouldn't make a difference since to achieve your max overclock you wouldn't need to bump the voltage that high. They are both very similar, and if you plan on overclocking, just go for whichever one is cheaper if you have that option.

Thanks for the replies, I am going to go for the 3530 I guess for the better deal. 3510 comes with usb 3.0 though and 3510 is really a 3500M specs are listed wrong but I'll take the 3530 because its cheaper but no USB 3 :(

Yes max is higher. The problem is I could reach 3.0GHz if I could pump up the voltage higher, but alas I'm maxed at 2.9GHz. :p Not a big deal because I keep it at 2.4-2.5GHz to keep temps cool.

Wow! I know they run really cool on the desktop, but I didn't know they could reach that high in a laptop!

No matter what you do, don't buy an A8-3530MX processor as an upgrade from eBay. Actually, don't buy a loose 3530MX from ANYONE. I made that mistake, so did many others. There are a bunch of broken/crippled cores floating around! My geekbench scores at stock clock went from 3900~ with the stock A6-3400m without overclocking to 3100 stock clock with the A8-3530mx. I could only manage as high as 3900 overclocked to 3.2ghz with the 3530mx. My A6 hits over 6500 @ 3.0ghz...

Do you have any proof of this?
