    Hi guys,

    I have an ASUS A8JS-024C with 120GB SATA-150 5400RPM Segate Momentus HDD.
I am trying to upgrade to a 320GB HDD. The question I am faced with is will a SATA-300 Drive work with the system ?

The options I am looking at are :

WD Scorpio 320GB Hard Drive WD3200BEVT
    Hitachi Travelstar 5K320 HTS543232L9A300
    Seagate Momentus 5400.5 ST9320320AS

    all being SATA-300 drives

If they will work, which one looks to be a better one?

    Appreciate your help !

Yes, the SATA-300 drives will work, since they are backward-compatible....to SATA-150 motherboards..!!

I don't know about the Seagate and Hitachi....but I have just bought the WD3200BEVT and it is great....quick and way quieter than the Hitachi 7K200.. :)

The WD is supposed to be the best, but I would go with the Hitachi, since Hitachi drives are usually more reliable than the other brands. Well at least it was in my experience. I have had many wd drives die on me, and I no longer buy from them. Samsung makes good drives too, so I would get the hitachi or the samsung.

Thanks for the quick replies Andy, K Tron,

I was thinking of WD Scorpio Black WD3200BJKT, but the price is too high

I might as well go for Hitachi Travelstar 5K320 HTS543232L9A300 320GB Hard Drive - with $118-$30 rebate = $88 the price looks tempting too!

but still looking out for some deals !

Thank you all for the help !!

Try the 3200BEKT without the freefall sensor.

Hitachi 7K200 200GB is still an excellent drive and outperforms all 5400rpm drives in real life benchmarks. Last time I checked it was $99 with rebates.
