    simple question....how MUCH arctic silver should i apply....so far my temps have kinda gone UP a couple of degrees rather then down!! ive applied it to both gpu and cpu...since access to both was easy....the previous paste was really badly put on as i found out...so how much SHOULD i apply? thanks...

    Should be a very thin coat. The whole point is to fill in any possible air bubbles in the space between heatsink and processor. Air as you know is a very good insulator, and would trap heat rather than help transfer it to the heatsink for dissipation. AC5 conducts better than the paste stuff, but isn't nearly as good as your heatsink.

    If you know someone who paints their nails, ask them how much they put on a thumb or toenail, then apply an amount approximately half of that to an equal surface area on the chip.

    It doesn't take much to fill microscopic gaps, and any more isn't as good.
