I've decided to modify my Acer 6935G and discovered that chipset INTEL PM45 actually supports quad core CPU (QX9300). I was really happy about this but decided to search if anyone tried such mod before. I couldn't find to much info but discovered that BIOS can have issues and not accept this kind of CPU.

There is also X9100 CPU with I'm 100% sure is supported because found this CPU upgrade, from T6400 to X9100. Because 3 GHz are way better than 2 GHz… | Sir Arthur's Den

I don't worry about heat issue I have quite good welding skills and a lot of cooper.

Is it possible to put Quad Core QX9300 in Acer 6935 anyone tried this before?

The motherboard must also support Intel Quad Core CPU, also the BIOS. I have a HP 8530w with PM45 chipset, but couldn't install a Quad Core. The motherboard didn't support it, also it fitted physically. BIOS recognized it as well, but Windows crashed after the initial screen. HP made a different motherboard for the Quad Cores. I now have a X9100 ES QHBQ and with ThrottleStop it runs up to 3989 MHz.

Although this pertains to my P79xx, I recently upgraded from x9100 to q9200. So not to double post here are my thoughts on it.

6935G does not have the cooling capacity to handle it.

I am sure you can't game at 4ghz, mine could get to around 3.2ghz when the graphics was loaded too.

Just adding more copper wont magically fix the heating issue, but if anything you may run into issues with the machine not having enough power to run the cpu properly.

At stock the TDP values are fairly accurate, the Q9200 and X9100 will consume similar amounts of power.

However when overclocking past 2.8ghz the quad is going to jump pretty fast and go WAAAAAAY past the x9100.

Thanks for answers I decided to buy X9100 (less risk) QX9300 wouldn't work anyway 6935G series don't support it and I'm 70% sure of it.

Yeah i know that adding additional cooper won't do anything but this is going to be rally hardcore mod I'm going to change plastic cover that covers CPU and other stuff into one big radiator that will be connected to main radiator.

for 99% of usage the x9100 will be your better choice. that is unless you put it in and with the overclock see alot of 100% cpu usage and system slow down. If you tend to flood the CPU often then the brute force of a quad core may be the better choice.
