    Hello to everyone!
I have an ACER EXTENSA 5220 laptop with a GL960 chipset. I bought from ebay an intel T7500 CPU to replace the old Celeron 560 processor. After I mount in the new CPU, put everything back in place the laptop powers up for a 2-3 seconds and then restars or shuts down without ever reaching BIOS or making a sound.
Where do you think the problem is?

    I should mention that:
    1) now I have 2GB DDR2 667 MHz in one slot and windows XP SP3. Originally it came with 1GB of RAM and Windows VISTA.
    2) the T7500 CPU i bought on ebay is not new
    3) If a put back the old CPU, the computer works fine. With the old CPU in place and the RAM memory removed the laptop powers up for a 2-3 seconds and then restars or shuts down. These are exactly the same symptoms i get with the T7500 in place (is it maybe a memory incompatibility).
Can you help me? Thank you

I should say that I recently updated Bios from from 1.34 to 1.35

    Either

    a) your GL960 implementation won't take a T7500 (and if it doesn't, there's basically nothing you can do to make it - it is not officially supported after all)
    b) your T7500 is defective

    a) is much more likely than b), but b) is definitely possible. Do you have another machine with which you can test the T7500?

My first guess was that the CPU is defective because i did some research online and found a couple of people who succesfuly managed to update to t7700, t7500, t7300. I will try to find another laptop to test the CPU, but other suggestions are welcome.

I am not sure about this but they both look different platform, 560 being Santa Rosa and T7500 being Merom,

Yes, 560 is santa rosa platform, but they both have Core Microarchitecture and for both the processor core is Merom.
