The A64 3200+ runs at 2.0GHz. Windows XP regularly reports inaccurate clock speeds especially in processors which have advanced power saving features (Cool n Quiet - which basically slows down the cpu and reduces the voltage and dynamically alters the speed as and when needed, it will do this whether you are on battery or A/C power).

Search through MS knowledge base, although they acknowledge this isue they havent really bothered to fix it.

If you want to chek the clock speed real time then use a third party tool like CPU-Z or try AMD Dashboard Demo.
