We are looking for a budget computer as a portable new addition to our 3 year old home PC. We currently have a Desktop computer with an AMD Athlon 64 with a 3000 cpu and 1gb or ram running windows xp home edition. What can we expect with these laptops in comparison to what we currently have? The new laptop comes with Vista Premium and 1 gb or ram. We came across two laptops but the cpus are different. Which one of the two is the better laptop? We are not gamers although we play the occasional free yahoo games. The laptop with the AMd chips comes with a GeForce Go 6150 video card the Intel chip comes with an Intel video card.

There's not much of a difference between the two chips. You should buy by price instead. As far as video goes, unless the Yahoo! games are 3D, the video card wouldn't matter. Otherwise, get the Go6150 over the Intel chipset. Both are integrated cards, but the 6150 at lease has a chance.

Get the system with the TK-53, if for no other reason than the fact that it has superior graphics capability.
In terms of relative performance, both should be roughly equivocal to what you have now in single-threaded apps, but you'll have much greater multi-tasking ability and better performance in multi-threaded apps.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-53 1.7GHz versus Intel Pentium Duo core T2080 ??
