Can anyone give me a balanced opinion on the AMD Athlon x2 Dual Core Processor QL62. Is it as good as the Intel Pentium Dual Core? Pros and cons?

    Any input much appreciated.

What are you going to do with it? For most everyday tasks, the CPU isn't all that important. AMDs run hotter and get less battery life, but Intels costs more. It's a trade-off.

The QL-62 is slightly less performing than Intel's Pentium Dual Core T3200. Oh and don't get confused by the "Pentium" name, the T3200 is on par with the previous generation Core 2 Duos.

As ZaZ said, for every day tasks(and even some gaming), the difference in CPU will not be significantly noticeable.

AMD tends to be warmer and more power consuming than Intel and it lacks the performance with higher level models. It is however cheaper than Intel.
