I'm basing this off of price to performance of course. Even if I was to get a 3200 for a video card it will still blow a intel IGP out of the water with a AMD cpu.

Agree, dont get too exited cos they compared 3200 to x3100,aka old gen. IGP,but intels new montevina gen`s IGP is 2 times powerful then x3100,and i dont speak about nvidia IGP...

Nvidia IGPs have always been worse than ther AtI counterpart... And I highly doubt that you get Hybrid Graphics with an Intel solution... I'm not talking about Nvidia as I think they have something like this on Desktops.

AMD is comparing it with what Intel has currently, there is nothing wrong with that. Even so I'm still planning on getting a dedicated video card to go along with this. I would rather put my money towards that instead of a higher end core2duo.

IMO, AMD should have named this something more revolutionary like Turion 2, to fight off Intels Centrino 2.

puma is supposedly much better for graphics, however the core 2 duo has far better cpu performance.

    Hey!

Before you decide to do that you might want to have a look at some benchmarks. Found an article on a German site (written in English) that managed to get a pre-sample Fujitsu test device.

Wow it seems to get a 3dmark06 score of 1,600+ thats on par with an overclock 8400m GS if real world performance is the same its truly revolutionary for an igp...

    This test in notebookjournal.de...

3DMark06 score (1795) AMD Turion X2 Ultra 2.3 GHz + Mobility Radeon HD 3400 is on par with score of my notebook (1786).

What so ultra about the turion? I wonder if they couldn't just take phenoms and disable 2 cores to mobilify them...

That's quite a statement considering that Montevina hasn't been released yet. Additionally, if they are comparing the integrated graphics of Puma to the x3100 Intel graphics, then they have something coming to them when Intel releases Montevina (I think it's a 90% increase, but I could be wrong).

in my opinion that is because the advancements in this CPU weren't significant enough to call it a next gen Turion (e.g. Turion 2), so they just added the ultra moniker to it. In order to go from Turion to Turion 2, more significant advancements needed to be made in the CPU itself, as Turion is the name for the CPU, not a platform like the Intel Centrino moniker.

There are Phenom based X2's. They're just not properly out yet. AMD should've mobilified them.

hmmmm, with the trouble that AMD is in now with the K10 core (mainly on the power issue if you are talking about notebook processors), I don't think you'll see a K10 based mobile processor until they have shifted to the 45nm process late this year or next year.

I really hope AMD would be back to the mobile with their cpu. The phenom desktop couldn't really fight off intel. :/

The platform as a whole seems to be great for gamers, but those cpu scores are weak. I wonder how noticeable it is in real world scenario. I heard the guy saying the platform offloads a lot of tasks to the GPU which can improve the systems speed.

Well, looks like it turns out that the X4500 kind of sucks. Big time.

looking at recent benchmarks for turion ultra cpus, there is a tangible improvement. the old X2s had around 75% of the performance of a C2D at the same clock speed, whereas the new ultra, has 90% of the performance of a c2d at the same clock speed. so from the x2 to the ultra, we're looking at around a 20% performance improvement.

A 10% difference in performance isn't really noticeable in most situations either. The Turion Ultra should be fine, especially in gaming, since the GPU is usually the bottleneck.

where does AMD Ultra ZM-82 fits in relative to intel's core 2 duo?
    any benchmarks?
