    I hope not...

    >_>

    <_<

    :p

However, I agree that it will most likely beat out my QX6700 on certain things, but then again chip makers always state pretty numbers that never seem to exist in the real world.

It's the fun fact of life.

    :p

Hope it will be better than the Quad FX that seemed to fail horribly, and I think this would be a 65nm chip, right?

Wait until Intel releases their true Quad Cores in the second half of the year based on their new 45NM process.

    ;)

Yes, it will be made on the 65NM process.

Which AMD plans on having a 45nm in 2008 - lol a back and forth battle - I am glad to hear Intel is designed a Native Quad core cpu - Also remember the quad fx is not a tru quad core - it is two sockets - compared to two dual core cpus glued together (c2d) so that will make a performance difference overall with memory access ect. -
And yes the Quad core AMD will be 65nm

I know intel is coming out with 45nm but they would need to have a 70% or so increase in preformance inorder to maintain the same lead over amd. I don't think they can do that, that is huge preformance increase to achieve. I am not saying it is impossible but it will make exsisting quad core owner unhappy when their $1400+ chips are rendered useless, by the AMD and the intel chips...

Note* my comment on no competion was based on new amd quads verses existing intel chips. i know intel will release more chips to fight back.

    AND

we don't even know if that 42% figure is true. we will know in the summer :D

Yes, but look at Core 2 Duo.

    It completely blew AMD away.

If it's happened once, it can happen again.

AMD lacks factories, thats another issue with them - but I have a feeling in the future the two companies will be come similar to Nvidia / ATI - very close specs - especially once we get past 4 x multicore - but we shall see, it could go back and forth with tossing 20 - 40% gains between each company for years to come - for now my respect still goes to AMD for doing it right the first time and not being all about the money - Good Business. Def. props to intel for working on a native quad core -
jon - 64 cpu reads in task managers :) lmao

    LOL!

    That'd be insane to watch.

Watching 4 is already insane, much less 60 more of them!

    :D

Go to AMD and get the dashboard. My norton suite pegs the meter on both cores when updating and running virus scan. I want 47 cores.
