Intel Core 2 Duo for sure. It has a much larger cache: 2 to 4MB depending on which one you get. The 64 X2's only have around 512kb to 1 MB. As for me, I only buy Intel, AMD's processors aren't as good.

Core 2 Duo processors outperform Turion X2 processors by a substantial margin.

AMD processors are still very good, and I wouldn't dismiss them just yet. The Intel Core 2 Duo processors do perform faster, but thats only in processor dependant applications, such as video editing and encoding. In tasks such as word processing and surfing the Internet, you will not notice the speed difference. In games, the difference will also be virtually nothing, because performance is almost always limited by the graphics card.

Battery life may be better with the Core 2 Duo, and its a major advantage to the Core 2 Duo. But, it would also matter on the other components, like the graphics card, and screen size, and many other factors. AMD processor also tend to be cheaper, although there are some very good machines that have strong graphics cards, and AMD processors.

^^what they said. The AMD's are good performers, the C2D are (much) better. You can find better IGP's on AMD systems, and they tend to be cheaper.

I have used both processors and trust me in everyday computing task you will never see the difference between them... Intel core 2 duo is the better chip now however most intel chips usually come paired with Intel GMA 950 IGPs which are sub par to AMD/ATI or AMD/NVIDIA combinations, so unless you are an AMD fan go for the intel...
