If I recall, they pushed back the X2 until July so it'll be a while longer yet.

Yes that is correct...the X2 is not coming until July...

It will be a great challenger for the Core Duo Centrino's... Especially now it is 2*1 MB L2 cache... When configuring with 2.2 GHz, that thing is a great processor. Imagine the power of AMD and the battery life of a Centrino!

I'm looking for a link now too. I rember seeing 9 May as their original target date, then heard that it wasn't going to make that date, but I haven't seen anything in print since then. Just other people like me that are passing around what we saw on a forum somewhere. :p Can you confirm that AMD is back to 1MB on each cache too? I keep seeing articles back and forth about 512 vs 1MB.

The AMD website shows the 512 / 1024 for each specific processor for the desktop line. But I do not know of anything about on the notebook side.

Found this news story over at laptop logic. And this story over at Daily Tech, which suggests the delay may only be until June.

I've been waiting for a while now. I sit several hours a day trying to find news about this processor.
    I've found this

http://www.3dnews.ru/mobile/msi_s271/ <-- review of MSI S271 with AMD Turion 64 X2 in russian. Find a translator and read it.

    http://www.directshopper.de/msi-megabook-s271-tl5018dl-attl50-1gb-80gb_notebooks_p <-- A webshop announcing the forthcoming S271

http://www.heise.de/preisvergleich/a197039.html <-- even more shops with this notebook.

    I just don't understand what TL5018DL/ATTL50 means. :)

    I hope we're close.

    Regards
    Raptor

I think it is gonna be hard for AMD to match the performance of Intel's Merom when that comes out. The benchmarks I've seen for Woodcrest/Merom etc are amazing.

I remeber people saying the release date is going to be early-mid March(I forgot the exact date). It's no surprise for another delay....

Battery life is looking pretty good! Over 3 hours with only the low capacity 32.5Wh 4-cell battery.
