The TL-58 will be the faster processor, bu if your tasks aren't too demanding, either processor will suffice. It may be helpful to consider the price upgrade from one processor to ther other, and see if its worth it for yourself.

The TL-58 is "better" in addition to higher speed twice the L2 cache. I have read that in power saving mode it undervolts more to .8v vs .9v.

AMD desktop processors, called Athlon X2, are hotter but that is mainly because they are not optimised for low power operation, purely because they are desktop processors. AMD's mobile processors are called Turion X2, and it is far more optimised for mobile use, and is a cooler processor compared to desktop unit.

Having said that, some notebooks with Turion X2 processors may still run warm, because the cooling just about meets AMD approval. More sophiticated cooling systems will keep the processor at a lower temperature.

Some would say both these are, they do run hotter than the Intels (duals) and use a little more power. But compared to each other these two are close both are 31w.

i thought it(athlon mobile) was like that freaking pentium 4 mobile which was a power consumer that didnt give any performance in return.

    TL-58 is faster.
Power consumption and heat dissipation should be around the same.
