Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake

Here's the relevant quote from the link:

Based on recent history that would just be server and desktop. AMD never values mobile segment.

Based on recent history that would just be server and desktop. By the time AMD releases 32nm mobile CPU, intel would be on verge of releasing 22nm mobile.

A few months behind is not really being behind.
This year Intel will produce 32nm chips (Westmere), and next year (2010) they will be working on the new architecture (Sandy Bridge). Therefore, in 2010 both AMD and Intel will be competing with 32nm CPUs in Q1. They caught up.
A more important question is whether AMD is going to shrink their chips again in 2011, and can this match Intel's 22nm plans. From the news it appears AMD should be in a position for this 22nm shrink:

It should be a nice fight. I am looking forward to seeing their fusion CPU technology.
Looking forward to a fanless laptops, please. -

I bet it wont be few months. It will be at least an year. with the new foundry company taking over the fabs, they would need ROI on the fab before they would go on to next fab. Intel has revenues of over $35B a year while AMD has < $6B. foundry would need new customers for AMD to keep in pace with intel. -
AMD needs to come up with something really new to compete against intel. Changing the process will not help much by itself. It's painful for me too see how far behind AMD is, as I always been their fanboy. All my desktops are AMD based, and I would probably buy a Turion Ultra laptop if I found one with competitive graphics...

Mmm, I don't know they don't seem to be catching up, rather the other way around. -
Intel and Nvidia are already in court, and now Intel with AMD ... lol

Should be interesting.
