Hi everyone! I'm new here, but I hope people here would be so kind to help. :)

I've been debating between two hp envy laptops with basically the same specs except that one has i7-3630 qm and another has A10-4600m (both without dedicated graphics). The thing is, the deal-breaker for me is to be able to handle, at least decently, the aforementioned adobe software.

It's obvious that an i7 would be much more capable to handle these cpu-intense apps; but I don't want to throw away pc gaming altogether (e.g. diablo 3), something I would be doing if I go i7.

So it comes down to this: c an the trinity handle premier pro and after effects, at least to make it run in decent speeds? Or do i really have to sacrifice gaming and get the powerful i7 instead?

Again, much thanks to anyone who helps me out!

You do know one is a 17.3" system and the other is a 15.6", right?

The prices sure are hard to beat (and the Intel is cheaper).

'for heavy video editing'... Intel is the only game in town...

    See:

For your intended usage: you need 16GB RAM (min.) and a HDD faster than 5400 RPM's (240/256GB or 512GB SSD highly recommended).

In other words: these systems are not even remotely comparable - nor suitable - for the intended main (assumed) use.

    Good luck.

Hi. First off, thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I know the screen sizes are different; but to me they're not a big issue. As long as it's not a 14-incher, I'm fine with it. :)

And I do know that these laptops aren't the best for my intended usage. But so far that's as far as my budget goes. Truth be told, I plan to study premiere pro and after effects with this laptop. So I'm not really looking yet for a "premium" experience, like what I would imagine pros are used to. Also, not really going for HD video editing; I mean "heavy" here as something I would be doing often. So, given these two options, my best bet would be the intel? Or would you really recommend that I wait and save up to buy a better spec'd laptop?

    Again, much thanks!

I guess I used the term "heavy" misleadingly. I only intend to say that it's something I would be doing often. I really don't plan to do HD video editing here or something like that; actually, I am looking forward more to after effects, for I really want to make those animated-text type videos and the like.

Oh, and I've been meaning to ask also, does premiere pro and after effects support OpenCL? Because, if I understand it right, that would help the cause of the Trinity APU pretty well in my case.

    Thoughts?

    Again, much thanks!
