I have one. I don't like it. The unit is too large and bulky. The plugs are stiff and difficult to plug things into. The cord is way too long and bulky. And it's overpriced.

It interfaces with the ethernet electrically, not electronically.

I don't care much for APC products in general. Poorly designed and overpriced usually. Tripp Lite is much better bang for your buck.

So, I'd assume this would fit my needs? Any other tips or surge protectors I should look into? Thanks again!

Yes, that one is nice. Notice that it also has a higher surge rating than the APC, so will provide better protection.

It too has a long gangly cord though, at 10 feet. Maybe some people like really long cords, but really - who puts there computer desk so far from a power outlet? Most people have a power outlet right there at their desk so the long 10 foot cord just gets in the way. Maybe I'm just being picky. :p
