    Dear all,

I've just recently bought Lenovo 0764-56A with Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5 GHz. I didn't notice that there is a promotion that with an extra USD. 130, i can get Lenovo 0764-A16 with Core 2 Duo T7500 2,2 GHz.

    So my questioons are :

Is it possible for me to upgrade my Lenovo's CPU from T5250 to T7500?
Is it worth to upgrade my T5250 to T7500?

I'm now using my Notebook to do business with email, internet browsing, chatting and running stock market software.

    Thanks.

If you can have Lenovo do the upgrade for you, yeah, I think its worth the $150. The jump from a T5250 to a T7500 is a pretty big jump. That $150 will probably get you a 10-15%performance increase, which will be nice if you do cad rendering, video editing or gaming.

If you are just using the system to browse the internet, you will not need a more powerful processor. But if you plan on doing any kind of cad or rendering/editing you should think about upgrading to the T7500 through lenovo.

After read your comments, I do think about upgrading to T7500, but the problem is that i don't know how to contact Lenovo. I live in indonesia. I have browsed through Lenovo.com/id, but i cant find any information about Lenovo email address etc.

Is it possible to upgrade by other technician instead of Lenovo? Or is it only can do by Lenovo?

    Thanks

You can upgrade outside of Lenovo, but you would have to buy the T7500 processor, which is currently around $225
    http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=T7500&c=fr&pid=05e7b047e8f9dda9a9251ae785fcc456d5e4bbb0e88c1d5700e091c5d696bb68

Lenovo has the upgrade for less because they can simply swap your cpu for another one.

Here is a start for you:
Lenovo's contact site (Phone number in Indonesia: 800-140-3555)
    http://www.lenovo.com/contact/id/en/

Just tell them you recently bought this notebook and you have decided that you want the T7500 processor instead of the T5550 processor. They should set up a pickup thing, and then in a bout a week, they should be able to upgrade your cpu.

    I hope this helps

Given your usage, I think it is unlikely you'll get much of a benefit from upgrading your CPU. Add more memory and/or a faster hard drive. You'll get more bang for your buck there. Lenovo will not upgrade your CPU and doing so will void your warranty if you care.

Nice input bro. But i just think that it is worth to spend about USD. 130 and get T7500 instead of T5250.

Sure, RAM is very important. 1GB is not enough when u're using windows vista. I will also try to get memory upgrade.

    Thanks bro

Btw bro, why do you think so? Why do you think that Lenovo will not upgrade my CPU? Do you mean that My Notebook is not upgradable? Thanks

Thats a shame, dont waste your time or moeny upgrading the processor. The T5550 will be more than capable of running your applications.

If your system slows down, run msconfig, and shut off background processes. This will help decrease boot times, and keep stupid programs from hogging up your resources.

Why would you want to spend $130 when it will perform virtually the same on either CPU. The things you're doing are not very processor intensive.

Thanks bro for the support. I just thought that with an extra USD. 130 i will get a powerfull notebook than can be used for the next 3-5 years.

Right now i have just upgraded my RAM to 2 GB instead of 1 GB, with an extra USD. 30. Wow, Pretty good improvement in speed, especially when i open many apps.

Thanks to bro K-Tron and Bro ZaZ.
