Yes to all three. They are all easy things to do. Vista does require 2GB and users over at eeeuser.com have said it works just fine with Vista.

Don't do it... I wound not choose Vista over XP on any atom based laptop. Trust me, I have an n10j with vista, which is a whole lot slower than the 1000h with xp that it replaced. I would install xp on the n10j in a heart beat if i get the opportunity to do so.

As for outputting to the hdtv, you should be able to set the output of the laptop to match that of the TV.

Vista doesn't really need a high-end CPU to run smooth. Obviously CPU-intensive tasks will be slow on an Atom, but a fast HDD and 2GB RAM or more, are fine for even Vista Ultimate.

Hmm, do you have the latest drivers and so?
Vista should run very smooth, it doesn't require that much really, i've tryed on a very slow PC with ultimate, it went smooth with the latest drivers installed!

I'd like to hear more about your situation too. I still have XP on mine but I've read lots of posts at eeeuser saying that Vista runs just as fast as XP.

Yeah, i did a clean install on my n10j and have all the latest drivers. Vista is just really slow compared to when i had a 1000h with XP. The 1000h booted to the log on screen in half the time the n10j takes (both were using the same 2gb memory and hdd since i swapped those components from the 1000h to the n10j).

On an equivalent platform, XP will almost always be faster than vista... it uses less resources. Vista with aero is prettier but i want performance first.

I could tell vista eats up resources because 720p mkv files that I could play perfectly in the 1000h struggles in the n10j. This is using kmplayer and its internal codecs. Once I get a codec that can utilize the hardware acceleration available on the discrete GPU of the n10j, i'm sure the stuttering will go away.

There are many users that have shared that Vista runs decent on the atom. I only posted it was possible and has decent results. I prefer XP slightly over Vista in general, so I have kept it the same. If you tweak Vista, it will run better, there are many tweak guides around.
