Hello, I was referred here from the ASUS forums.

I have an ASUS G60JX laptop, with Windows Home Premium 7. I have made no changes to the hardware or anything. Recently, I installed Nero BurnLite, and the optical drive would randomly disappear, but after a restart, it would come back. I read that Nero would sometimes cause that to happen, and to use another burning program. So I uninstalled it and installed CDBurnerXP. Now the drive won't read any discs all. I uninstalled CDBurnerXP, but to no avail. I also uninstalled from Device Manager and reinstalled, to no avail.

ASUS told me to update the intel chipset, update BIOS, or update the optical firmware. I did the firmware, which didn't help. Before I do the others, I just wanted to see if I was missing something.

    Drive is a ht-dt-st dvdram gt30n.

Thanks in advance for your help!
